KEF Just Gave Its LSX II Speakers a Makeover — And Yes, They Look Amazing

KEF’s LSX II wireless speakers just got a stylish refresh with two new finishes — Amber Haze and Cotton White — and a full fabric wrap. Here’s what’s new (and what’s not) in this design update.

If you’ve had your eye on KEF’s LSX II wireless speaker system, there’s a new reason to take another look — two, actually. KEF has introduced Amber Haze and Cotton White, two new finishes that give the compact speakers a fresh, modern twist. And while the sound and features haven’t changed, the updated design makes the LSX II a better visual fit for today’s living spaces.

Originally launched in 2022, the LSX II quickly became a go-to choice for anyone looking to get hi-fi sound without committing to a bulky, traditional setup. It’s a small stereo pair that packs a lot into a compact footprint — streaming support, KEF’s Uni-Q driver, and enough input options to work with most setups.

Until now, it was available in a handful of colors like Mineral White, Cobalt Blue, and Lava Red. But KEF has phased out several of those options and is now offering Amber Haze, a rich golden-yellow tone, and Cotton White, a soft, warm neutral. Carbon Black and Soundwave finishes are still sticking around, but the rest are making room for this simplified, more cohesive color palette.

The biggest design change here isn’t just about color — it’s texture, too. Every LSX II speaker is now fully wrapped in acoustic fabric. Earlier versions only had partial fabric wraps, with other surfaces left bare. Now, the fabric gives the speakers a more refined, uniform appearance across the board.

KEF says the move is meant to make the speakers feel more tactile and better suited for home environments. The company worked with British designer Michael Young to create an enclosure that blends in — or stands out — depending on how you style your space. The result is a speaker that’s not just about sound, but also about how it looks and feels in a room.

This update is strictly about design — the internals haven’t changed. The LSX II is still a stereo pair of powered speakers, with each side getting its own amp. You can connect them wirelessly or use a cable between them if you want higher-resolution audio.

Streaming support is as wide as ever. You’ve got Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and Tidal Connect all onboard. If you prefer wired connections, the primary speaker has you covered with HDMI eARC, USB-C, optical Toslink, and a standard 3.5mm input. Whether you're hooking them up to a TV, a computer, or a turntable setup with a preamp, you're probably good to go.

This isn’t a redesign or a major overhaul — it’s a style refresh. KEF is clearly aiming to make the LSX II feel more like a piece of home decor than a typical speaker system. With the new finishes and fabric enclosures, the LSX II lineup feels more unified and a bit more grown-up.

Whether you lean toward the soft look of Cotton White or the brighter, more expressive Amber Haze, the core appeal of the LSX II stays the same: a clean-looking, do-it-all speaker system that sounds good and fits easily into almost any space.

The new Amber Haze and Cotton White versions are available now through retailers like Crutchfield for $1,499.99 — the same price as the other current LSX II models. That’s up from the $1,299 launch price a couple of years ago, but it’s in line with KEF’s more recent pricing adjustments.

If that’s a bit more than you’re looking to spend, KEF also offers the LSX II LT. It’s priced at $999, shares a lot of the same DNA, but drops some connectivity options and doesn’t have the full fabric-wrapped finish.
