Just one day after LG announced its own RGB TV technology, Samsung has responded by expanding its Micro RGB TV lineup for 2026. What was once a single, oversized flagship model is now turning into a full lineup, with screen sizes starting at 55 inches and going all the way up to the original 115 inches introduced earlier this year. That means Samsung’s most advanced TV tech is no longer reserved for home theater enthusiasts with massive walls, and it could signal a bigger shift in where high-end display tech is headed next.

Until now, Samsung’s Micro RGB technology has only been available in one very large (and very expensive) size. Starting in 2026, that changes. The new lineup includes 55", 65", 75", 85", 100", and 115" models. That’s a much broader range and brings the technology into more familiar territory for most buyers.

While these TVs are still aimed at the premium market, Samsung is clearly signaling that Micro RGB isn’t just for early adopters anymore. It’s positioning the technology as something that could eventually sit alongside OLED and MiniLED in the high-end TV space.

At a glance, Micro RGB might sound like a buzzword, but it’s actually a pretty different approach from what most TVs use today.

Instead of relying on a white or blue backlight with color filters—like most LED and MiniLED TVs—Micro RGB displays use tiny red, green, and blue LEDs that emit their own light directly. Each LED is smaller than 100 microns. This setup allows the TV to control brightness and color much more precisely, which can result in sharper contrast and more accurate color.

Samsung says the new models hit 100% of the BT.2020 color gamut, which is a very wide color range that goes beyond what most TVs can show. This level of performance has been verified by VDE, a German certification body.

To make the most of the hardware, Samsung is also introducing an updated image processor called the Micro RGB AI Engine Pro. This chip handles picture processing on a frame-by-frame basis and helps boost clarity, sharpness, and motion smoothness.

Some of the key tech built into the chip includes:

  • 4K AI Upscaling Pro: Helps lower-resolution content look sharper on 4K screens.
  • AI Motion Enhancer Pro: Reduces blur during fast scenes like sports or action movies.
  • Color Booster Pro and HDR Pro: Enhance color depth and brightness without overdoing it.
  • Precision Color 100: Offers more accurate dimming of each individual RGB LED for better control over color and contrast.

Put simply, this isn’t just about raw hardware—it’s about smart software that fine-tunes every scene as you watch it.

Samsung is also bringing its Glare Free screen coating to the new Micro RGB models. If you’ve ever watched TV with the sun hitting your screen or a lamp causing reflections, you know how annoying it can be. This coating helps minimize reflections from both natural and artificial light without dulling the image. It’s a small but meaningful touch that makes the TV more usable in everyday spaces.

On the software side, Samsung’s Vision AI Companion is getting an upgrade too. It combines Samsung’s voice assistant Bixby with large language model (LLM) technology to offer more natural interactions. You’ll be able to search for content, ask questions, get personalized recommendations, and even use tools like real-time translation or wallpaper generation—all from your TV.

There’s an AI button on the remote to make accessing these features more convenient, whether you prefer voice commands or typing.

All the new Micro RGB models support Dolby Atmos, which provides a more immersive audio experience, along with Adaptive Sound Pro, which adjusts the audio based on the content and your room setup. If you already own Samsung soundbars or smart speakers, Q-Symphony lets them work together with the TV’s speakers to create a fuller sound.

Samsung is also rolling out Eclipsa Audio, a new spatial sound feature for its 2026 TVs that adds an extra layer of immersion, especially for movies and games.

While Samsung has shared a lot about the technology, it hasn’t said exactly when the new models will ship or how much they’ll cost. For reference, the 115-inch model released in 2025 had a price tag around $30,000—so Micro RGB is still very much in the premium tier.

That said, the move to smaller screen sizes could open the door to more reasonable pricing. We’ll likely learn more during CES 2026, where Samsung will be showcasing the full lineup at its exhibit in the Wynn and Encore hotels in Las Vegas from January 6–9.

Samsung’s move to expand its Micro RGB TV lineup comes just as competitors like LG step into the RGB display arena. The addition of more common sizes, smarter image processing, and new audio features show that Samsung sees Micro RGB as more than just a tech demo. While questions about price and accessibility remain, it’s clear that Micro RGB is evolving into a key part of Samsung’s premium TV strategy, and 2026 could be a turning point for how this tech fits into the living room.
