Wyze has rolled out the Cam Pan v4, the latest version of its pan-and-tilt home security camera and the company’s first model to record in 4K resolution. At $59.58, it looks a lot like the Cam Pan v3 from last year but adds sharper video, smarter tracking, and more flexibility for setup.
Up until now, Wyze’s cameras topped out at 2K or 1080p video. That was fine for basic monitoring, but zooming in often meant losing detail. The Cam Pan v4 is the company’s first step into ultra HD 4K, which makes it easier to spot small details like faces, license plates, or pets in motion.
A new processing chip also makes a difference. It gives the camera on-device AI tracking, so it can recognize people, vehicles, and pets directly, rather than relying solely on cloud processing. The idea is to keep the focus on what matters while ignoring background distractions like trees swaying in the wind.
The “Pan” part of the Cam Pan name isn’t just for show. This model still offers 360 degrees of rotation and 180 degrees of tilt, giving you wide coverage from a single unit. Through the Wyze app, you can move the camera manually or set up to four “waypoints” that the camera cycles through automatically.
There’s also color night vision and improved infrared sensors. Even in low light, the camera is designed to deliver a clearer image than past versions.
The Cam Pan v4 comes with a couple of extras that go beyond simple video monitoring. There’s a motion-triggered spotlight that kicks on when movement is detected, plus a built-in siren you can activate if you want to scare off an unwanted visitor.
Two-way audio has also been updated with a better microphone and speaker, making it easier to carry on quick conversations through the app—whether that’s checking in on kids, asking a delivery driver to leave a package, or calling the dog in from the backyard.
One big improvement is support for dual-band Wi-Fi. Unlike the Cam Pan v3, which only connected to 2.4GHz networks, the new model works with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. If you’ve got a Wi-Fi 6 router, the camera can take advantage of faster, more stable connections.
For storage, you’ve got options. A MicroSDXC card up to 512GB can handle continuous 4K recording locally. For cloud storage, Wyze sells subscription plans with different features, ranging from basic event recording to more advanced options like AI search and longer video history.
The Cam Pan v4 connects with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, IFTTT, and Wyze’s own automation tools. What it doesn’t do—at least for now—is support Apple HomeKit.
There’s also a handy privacy mode. When you turn it on, the camera lens physically tilts down and stops recording, which can be reassuring if you only want it running at certain times.
With an IP65 weather rating, the Cam Pan v4 can be used inside or outside. It’s dust-tight and protected from water sprayed at low pressure, which covers most common scenarios like rain or snow.
A new universal mounting system means you’re not limited to placing it on a shelf. It can go on a wall, ceiling, or under an eave, giving you more flexibility in where you set it up.
The Wyze Cam Pan v4 is available now on Amazon and through Wyze’s own store for $59.98. At that price, it’s competing in the budget end of the market but now with features—like 4K video and on-device AI—that you’d normally expect from more expensive options.
