This Isn’t a Gaming PC — It’s Edifier’s Wildest Speaker Yet

Edifier’s latest desktop speaker looks like a mini gaming PC—and it might just fool you at first glance.

If you walked past Edifier’s new Huazai New Cyber speaker sitting on someone’s desk, you might mistake it for a tricked-out gaming PC. And that’s exactly what Edifier seems to be going for.

This new desktop speaker just launched in China for around $210 (1,499 yuan), and it’s unlike anything else on the market right now. Available in Aurora White or Phantom Black, the New Cyber takes inspiration from gaming rigs—complete with transparent panels, RGB lighting, and a built-in screen that can show everything from system stats to song lyrics.

Let’s start with the design, because that’s clearly the attention-grabber here. The top half of the speaker is see-through, showing off what looks like a set of PC components: a graphics card-style power module, mock RAM sticks, and braided cables that resemble liquid cooling tubes. Edifier has leaned all the way into the gaming aesthetic, and the results are eye-catching to say the least.

Five circular RGB lights sit behind the transparent shell, and they’re animated to look like spinning fans. You can customize the lighting using Edifier’s TempoHub app—on your phone or computer—with 16.8 million colors and a variety of effects to match whatever setup you’ve got going on.

Then there’s the 2.8-inch color screen on the front. When you connect the speaker to your PC via USB, it can show real-time CPU, GPU, and RAM usage. During Bluetooth playback, it can display song lyrics, animations, or even custom messages. Whether you find that helpful or just fun to look at probably depends on how deep into the RGB lifestyle you are.

Of course, design only gets you so far if the audio doesn’t hold up. Thankfully, the New Cyber isn’t just a flashy light show. It’s a full 2.1-channel speaker setup, featuring:

  • A 4-inch subwoofer for the low-end
  • Two 52mm mid-high drivers
  • Three passive radiators to add extra bass depth

Combined, these components push out 60 watts of RMS power, peaking at 120 watts. Dual Class D amps and built-in DSP help keep things clean and controlled, whether you're watching movies, gaming, or just playing music. There are also EQ presets for different scenarios, and a custom mode if you want to dial in your own sound preferences.

It’s not tiny—measuring about 293.6 × 150.7 × 213.6 mm—but it’s still desktop-friendly and won’t overwhelm your setup if you’re used to bookshelf speakers.

The New Cyber supports a few different ways to connect your devices. Bluetooth 6.0 is onboard for wireless use, which offers better range and lower latency than older Bluetooth versions—a plus if you're gaming or streaming video. For wired setups, you’ve got USB and AUX inputs, and the speaker can function as a USB sound card when connected to a PC.

On top of that, Edifier has added two high-speed charging ports on the back—one USB-A and one USB-C, both supporting up to 35W. That means you can charge your phone or tablet right from the speaker without reaching behind your desk to find a free outlet. It’s a small but useful touch that makes the New Cyber feel like part speaker, part desktop hub.

There’s also a physical rotary knob on the front for adjusting volume, switching playback modes, and changing brightness—no touch-sensitive controls or cryptic buttons here.

This speaker clearly isn’t trying to be subtle. If your desktop already includes RGB keyboards, a transparent PC case, and animated wallpapers, the New Cyber probably fits right in. But if your vibe leans more minimalist or office-friendly, it might stick out like a neon thumb.

That said, Edifier has packed in a surprising amount of functionality. It’s not just about looks—it’s trying to justify its footprint with useful features and capable audio performance. The built-in screen might seem gimmicky at first, but if you’re the kind of person who likes to see system stats at a glance or just wants a little extra visual flair with your tunes, it could be a fun addition.

Right now, the Edifier Huazai New Cyber is a China-only release. There’s no official word on global availability yet, but Edifier gear often shows up through import sites or online retailers, so there’s a decent chance you’ll be able to get your hands on one eventually—if you’re willing to do a little digging.

Whether it becomes a breakout hit or just a niche favorite remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure: this is one of the more unique desktop audio products we’ve seen lately, and it’s clearly made for people who want their speaker to do more than just sit quietly in the background.

If you're building the ultimate gaming setup and want a speaker that doesn't just blend into the background, Edifier’s New Cyber is one to watch. Just be ready for the occasional “Wait, is that a PC?” from curious onlookers.
