Samsung has officially taken the wraps off the Galaxy Z TriFold, a foldable phone that’s also kind of a tablet — and folds not once, but twice. It’s Samsung’s first tri-folding device, and it packs a massive 10-inch screen that somehow still folds down into something that fits in your pocket (sort of).

The TriFold is launching in South Korea on December 12, with other regions to follow. If you’re in the U.S., you’ll need to wait until early 2026. Pricing isn’t final outside of Korea yet, but in Samsung’s home country, it’ll cost KRW 3,590,400, which works out to around $2,500. That’s several hundred dollars more than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, so this is clearly aimed at serious multitaskers or tech early adopters.

At the heart of the Z TriFold is a triple-panel OLED display that folds inward from both sides, forming a surprisingly compact form factor when shut. Unfold it all the way, and you’ve got a 10-inch, 2160 x 1584 display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate — enough space to run three apps side-by-side without feeling cramped.

To make the tri-fold design work, Samsung had to get clever with the hinges. Each one is a different size, and the panels themselves are slightly different in thickness. Folded up, the TriFold measures 12.9mm thick — not exactly slim, but not that far off from Samsung’s previous Fold models. And at 309 grams, it’s noticeably heavier than a typical phone.

Materials like titanium, advanced polymers, and reinforced glass help keep the device sturdy despite the extra moving parts. Samsung says every unit is tested extensively, including CT scans and laser checks to make sure internal components are precisely aligned.

Even with all that folding going on, the TriFold still includes a standard smartphone-like display on the outside — a 6.5-inch 1080p AMOLED screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio and up to 2,600 nits of brightness. That makes it usable as a regular phone when you’re not unfolding it into tablet mode.

As for cameras, it’s more or less the same setup as the Galaxy Z Fold 7: a 200MP wide-angle sensor, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 10MP 3x telephoto on the back. You also get two selfie cameras — one for the outer screen and one for the main display — both 10MP. The camera bump is still there, though, which could make the phone wobble a bit on flat surfaces.

Powering all of this is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, along with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. That’s flagship-level stuff and matches what you’d find in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Battery-wise, Samsung went with a 5,600mAh setup split across the three panels. It’s the largest battery ever in a Samsung foldable, though with that massive display and heavy multitasking potential, you’ll probably want to keep a charger nearby. Thankfully, 45W fast charging is included.

One of the most appealing parts of the Z TriFold is what you can do with that big 10-inch screen. Samsung’s software lets you run up to three apps at once in portrait mode. You can resize them, move them around, and quickly switch back to your full layout with a tap on the taskbar.

It’s also the first phone to support standalone Samsung DeX — Samsung’s desktop-style interface — without needing to connect to a monitor. With DeX, you can create up to four different workspaces, each running multiple apps. If you do want a second screen, there’s an Extended Mode that lets you drag apps between the TriFold and an external monitor. Add a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, and you’ve got a fully portable mini workstation.

Samsung’s Galaxy AI features are here too, and they’re tweaked for the larger screen. For example, with Photo Assist, you can see before-and-after edits side by side. Sketch to Image can turn your doodles into full images. Gemini Live lets you ask questions about what’s on your screen or in your camera view and get real-time answers — helpful when you’re multitasking or comparing design ideas.

Browsing Assist also gets a boost, offering summaries and translations without needing to jump between apps. Even Samsung’s built-in apps like Health and My Files have been updated to make better use of the extra screen space.

Precision Engineering in Every Fold | Galaxy Z TriFold

The Galaxy Z TriFold will go on sale in South Korea starting December 12. Markets like China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the UAE will follow, and Samsung says the U.S. release is coming sometime in Q1 2026. No word yet on color options or U.S. pricing.

Is it a phone? A tablet? A little of both? However you look at it, the Galaxy Z TriFold is clearly aiming to offer something different. Whether it catches on will probably depend on how you feel about carrying around a device this large — and whether you’re ready to spend upwards of $2,500 for the convenience of unfolding a full-screen workspace from your pocket.
