Ruark Audio is marking its 40th anniversary with something a bit different: a handcrafted version of its flagship R810 ($4,999 at Dreamedia) all-in-one speaker system, called the R810 MiE. The “MiE” stands for Made in England, and it’s exactly that, a highly limited edition designed to look like classic mid-century furniture but packed with modern streaming tech.
Only 50 of these units are being made, and each one is individually built with premium wood finishes and hand-assembled components. It’s a nod to both the brand’s roots and its evolving vision of what a home audio system can look and feel like.

Under the hood, the R810 MiE is basically the same as the regular R810 that Ruark launched in 2023. That means you’re getting a fully modern streaming setup with a wide range of playback options. It supports:
There’s also a bright 4-inch color display on the front and Ruark’s signature RotoDial control on top. The system even comes with a circular remote that mirrors the design of the top-mounted dial.
So whether you’re streaming high-res tracks from Qobuz, pairing it with a TV via HDMI, or dusting off vinyl records, the R810 MiE can handle it.

What makes the MiE version stand out is how it’s built. Ruark worked with Storm Furniture, a UK-based woodworking company that usually creates custom interiors. Storm is also part of the Guild of Master Craftsmen, and for this project, they brought a very furniture-first approach.
The MiE cabinets come in two finishes:

Each one uses marquetry, a traditional woodworking technique that involves cutting and arranging different wood veneers into patterns before bonding them to the cabinet. After that, multiple layers of lacquer are applied by hand, with sanding between coats to bring out the grain and give it a deep, polished look.
No two units are exactly the same. Each is numbered and fitted with a wooden plaque on the back that confirms its authenticity.
In terms of physical design, the R810 MiE is big enough to make a statement — it’s about a meter wide and 660mm tall, standing on a slim polished chrome stand that keeps the aesthetic clean and elevated.

Inside the cabinet, there’s a 3-way speaker system:
All powered by 180 watts of Class AB amplification, which should be plenty for filling a living room, office, or open-plan space with music.
You don’t need separate speakers or amps. This is a full-range system in one box, well, one very carefully crafted box.

Only 50 R810 MiE units are being produced, and they’re available exclusively through specialist retailers. The price? £6,495 (US pricing TBA), a significant jump from the original R810, which launched at £3,000 in the UK (or $4,999 at Dreamedia).
That price reflects the time and effort that goes into each piece. Ruark’s managing director, Alan O’Rourke, explained that this isn’t about mass manufacturing, it’s about working without strict production deadlines and focusing on small-batch craftsmanship. The R810 MiE isn’t just built to sound good. It’s also built to look and feel like a piece of heirloom furniture.
“We’ve long envisioned bringing some production back to the UK. While volume production isn’t viable, our MiE project focuses on unmatched quality through hands-on craftsmanship, free from time constraints, making MiE truly special,” said O’Rourke.
The Ruark R810 MiE isn’t your everyday speaker. It’s for someone who wants their audio system to double as a showpiece, something that blends into a carefully designed living space, while still offering all the features you’d expect from a modern streaming setup.
Yes, it’s expensive. And yes, it’s limited. But that’s kind of the point.
