If you’ve been using the same pair of wireless earbuds for everything from music to phone calls, Cambridge Audio thinks you might be ready for an upgrade. The new Melomania A100 wireless earbuds aim to bring high-quality sound into a compact, easy-to-carry form, with technology pulled straight from the company’s amplifier lineup.
If you’ve ever felt like your wireless earbuds were missing that extra something in the sound department, the A100 might be trying to fill that gap. These earbuds aren’t just about convenience—they’re designed for people who care about how their music actually sounds.
What sets the A100 apart from most wireless earbuds is what's inside. While a lot of earbuds rely on efficient but basic Class D amplification, Cambridge Audio has gone with Class AB amplification—the same type used in its larger, traditional amplifiers. That’s not something you see every day in a tiny wireless earbud, and it could make a noticeable difference in how the music feels, especially for people used to more hi-fi-focused setups.
You’re also getting 10mm neodymium drivers that have been tuned in-house by Cambridge’s engineers in London. That, combined with a Qualcomm Kalimba DSP, enables support for high-quality Bluetooth codecs like LDAC, aptX Lossless, and aptX Adaptive, which means, as long as your phone supports it, you can stream near-lossless audio wirelessly.
And to help music sound its best no matter what volume you're listening at, Cambridge has added a new feature called DynamEQ. It automatically tweaks the EQ as you raise or lower the volume, so tracks still sound full and detailed—even when you’re not blasting them.
If you’re not into one-size-fits-all audio, Cambridge has you covered. The Melomania Connect app lets you fine-tune the earbuds’ sound with a 7-band EQ, plus six presets for different genres. Prefer more bass? Want a warmer tone? You can dial it in, save your custom settings, and make the A100 sound the way you like it.
You can also use the app to customize the touch controls—handy if you’d rather use double taps to control volume instead of skipping tracks.
The A100’s battery stats are solid: up to 11 hours on a single charge without ANC, or about 6.5 hours with ANC turned on. The compact case adds another 28 hours of battery life, and if you're in a rush, a 10-minute quick charge gives you around three extra hours of playback. That’s more than enough to get through a full workday (and then some) without having to plug in.
Like many premium earbuds, the A100 offers Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), using a mix of internal and external microphones to block out background sounds. Whether you're trying to focus in a noisy office or just want to drown out the hum of public transport, the ANC should help you stay in your zone.
And when you need to hop on a call, the A100 uses a six-microphone array to help your voice cut through background noise clearly. That’s especially useful for remote workers or people who are always jumping between Zoom calls and playlists.
The A100 also supports Bluetooth 5.4 and multipoint connectivity, which means you can stay paired to two devices at once. So if you’re watching a movie on your tablet and a call comes in on your phone, you can switch over without needing to disconnect and reconnect. It’s a small convenience, but one that makes a difference in everyday use.
Cambridge has paid attention to comfort too.
The earbuds are made with lightweight materials and come with multiple sizes of silicone tips so you can get a snug, secure fit. The charging case is pocket-friendly, and the earbuds come in black or white finishes depending on your style.
