If you use a Denon or Marantz product with HEOS built in, you now have another way to listen to your Qobuz music. A recent update has added native Qobuz streaming right inside the HEOS app, giving you an extra option alongside the Qobuz Connect feature that launched earlier this year.
HEOS—short for Home Entertainment Operating System—is Denon and Marantz’s wireless audio platform. It’s built into many of their receivers, soundbars, wireless speakers, and amplifiers. The HEOS app, available for iOS and Android, lets you control music playback, adjust volume, and manage sound in multiple rooms from one place.
Back on May 15, 2025, Qobuz rolled out Qobuz Connect for HEOS-enabled devices. This works a lot like Spotify Connect or TIDAL Connect: you choose music in the Qobuz app, and it plays directly on your Denon or Marantz device without your phone having to send the audio. Instead, the device streams straight from Qobuz’s servers, while your phone just acts as the remote. This can make playback more stable and keep the audio quality intact.
With this new update, you can now access Qobuz directly inside the HEOS app itself. That means you can search for albums, browse playlists, or pull up your favorites without switching between apps.
“We’re proud that Denon and Marantz, through their excellent HEOS platform, were among the first to support Qobuz Connect from launch,” said Dan Mackta, Managing Director for North America and Northern Europe at Qobuz. “We’re equally delighted to now be joining the HEOS app directly, giving users even more choice in how they enjoy the Qobuz experience.”
Some people will stick with Qobuz Connect because they like using the Qobuz app’s layout and discovery features. Others will appreciate being able to stay in the HEOS app, especially if they want to mix Qobuz tracks with music from other services or local sources in a multi-room setup.
For example, you might start playing something in Qobuz Connect on your main AV receiver, then hop into the HEOS app to group in other HEOS-enabled speakers around the house. Or you could just stay in HEOS the whole time and pick from Qobuz and other services without ever leaving the app.
This integration is part of a free firmware update for compatible HEOS-enabled products. Once it’s installed, you’ll see Qobuz as an available music service in the HEOS app. Just log in with your Qobuz account and you’re ready to start streaming.
The update works with a range of Denon and Marantz gear, including:
If you don’t have a Qobuz subscription, you’ll still see the option in the app, but you’ll need a subscription to play full tracks. Qobuz does offer previews, so you can still sample content before signing up.
Adding Qobuz to the HEOS app is another example of how streaming services and hardware are becoming more tightly integrated. Multi-room audio systems used to be focused on local files or Bluetooth, but now they’re designed to work directly with a variety of music services. Having them built into the control app means you don’t need to constantly swap between different platforms just to play music.
Qobuz itself has been around since 2007 and is known for offering high-resolution audio streams and a download store. Its audience includes listeners who want more than just standard-quality streaming. For HEOS users, it’s another solid option to have alongside the other services already supported.
For most people, there’s nothing complicated about this change—just update your device, log into Qobuz in the HEOS app, and start listening. If you prefer Qobuz Connect, that’s still available. If you like the idea of having everything in one place, the HEOS app can now handle your Qobuz listening too.
So now, Denon and Marantz owners can choose between:
Either way, you can keep the music going across your home without missing a beat.
