Fosi Audio has officially launched the ZH3, a new all-in-one desktop unit that rolls a DAC, headphone amplifier, and preamp into a single device. It’s priced at $209.99 and available now on Amazon, aimed at folks who want better audio for their headphones, speakers, or even gaming setup—without needing to build a towering stack of components.

The ZH3 is built to be the centerpiece of your audio system, whether you’re listening on headphones, running active speakers, or routing it into a power amp. It’s packed with connection options: USB, optical, coaxial, RCA, 4.4mm balanced, 6.35mm single-ended, XLR, and RCA pre-outs. In short, you’ve got flexibility no matter how you prefer to listen.

One neat feature is support for both UAC 1.0 and UAC 2.0, so the ZH3 works not only with high-resolution audio from your computer, but also with gaming consoles—without any weird driver issues.

“Our goal with the ZH3 was to take the kind of sound quality usually reserved for high-end systems and make it available in a product anyone can enjoy,” said Ryan Huang, Founder and CEO of Fosi Audio. “Compact and powerful, it is perfect for driving high-impedance headphones, pairing with active desktop speakers, or serving as the centerpiece of a complete HiFi setup.”

Inside the ZH3 is a combination of hardware designed for detailed playback and clean amplification. The unit uses an AKM 4493SEQ DAC chip, which handles PCM audio up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 over USB. There’s also an XMOS XU316 processor, which keeps digital audio running smoothly across different platforms.

When it comes to powering your headphones, the ZH3 uses a dual-power balanced amplifier circuit and four OPA1612 op-amps. If you're plugging into the 4.4mm balanced output, it delivers up to 2,570mW per channel at 32 ohms. The 6.35mm single-ended output offers up to 640mW, enough for most headphones out there—whether you’re using sensitive IEMs or full-size over-ears.

Fosi lists a THD+N rating of 0.00018% and a noise floor of 1.9µV, which suggests it should offer quiet, low-distortion sound—even with more sensitive gear.

The ZH3 gives users a few tools to tailor the sound. You get bass and treble controls, which can come in handy for quick tuning without diving into software EQ. There are also six digital filters to choose from if you like to experiment, or you can turn all processing off and stick with a clean, untouched signal path.

These aren’t just "set it and forget it" options either—it's easy to toggle between them using the front-panel knob or the included remote control.

Fosi seems to have thought about day-to-day usability here. The LCD screen gives clear visual feedback, and the multifunction knob on the front makes navigation simple. There’s also a 12V trigger input, which allows the ZH3 to turn on or off in sync with other gear in a more complex system.

And while the ZH3 works fine on its own, Fosi also suggests pairing it with its ZD3 DAC and ZA3 amplifier for a more complete hi-fi setup. If you're building a compact, stackable system, these pieces are designed to fit together without taking over your entire desk.

At just under $210, the ZH3 lands in that sweet spot for people who want better-than-basic audio gear without going deep into audiophile territory. It’s especially appealing if you’re looking to consolidate devices or dip your toes into high-res audio without buying separate components for everything.

The ZH3 won’t replace high-end separates for those chasing ultimate performance, but that’s not the point. This is for listeners who want something that’s clean, flexible, easy to use, and won’t eat up desk space or their budget.

So if you’re upgrading your work-from-home setup, fine-tuning a gaming rig, or just looking to enjoy your music collection through something better than a phone dongle, the ZH3 should be on your radar.
