Well, another year of the Florida Audio Expo has passed. I normally attend on Saturday and take my time working through each room, but this year felt noticeably smaller. In past years, it usually takes me four to five hours to properly see and hear everything. This time, I was in and out in under two hours. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it was definitely the leanest show I’ve attended so far. Both in things to see and attendance.

Let’s start right away with my favorite room and the clear highlight of the show. YG Acoustics was demonstrating the Vantage 3, and they absolutely nailed it. The clarity was exceptional, with an incredibly clean and precise presentation that never crossed into sounding clinical. The soundstage was wide, deep, and very stable, with excellent image focus no matter where you sat.
This room stood out not just because of the speakers, but because the system as a whole was clearly well thought out. Everything felt intentional — from the electronics to the setup — and it paid off in a room that was easy to sit in and just listen. Boom, they had an easy win and the star of the show in my opinion.

Runner-up goes to Focal and their Diva Mezza Utopia system. Focal was showing several speakers this year, and they genuinely stole a lot of attention across the show. What really stood out to me was the move to fully powered systems — no towering stacks of external electronics, no cable spaghetti.
While some enthusiasts love tweaking and swapping gear, there’s something very appealing about a clean, all-in-one solution that just works. These systems made listening feel effortless, and the sound backed it up with excellent dynamics, refinement, and polish. The bass was shockingly good and it definitely impressed.

My third-place pick goes to Popori Acoustics HYPERSAIL. Normally, I’m skeptical of speakers that lean heavily into extreme or unconventional design, but this room won me over almost immediately. From the moment I sat down, the sound was engaging, open, and surprisingly cohesive. The large, sail-like line-array design wasn’t just for show — it delivered scale and presence without sounding disjointed or overwhelming. This was one of those rooms that quietly impressed rather than shouting for attention.
On a broader note, I really hope this show continues to grow and stabilize. I noticed several rooms struggling with Wi-Fi issues, which made it impossible to demo certain streaming-based systems properly. That’s obviously on the hotel network, not the exhibitors, but it did impact the experience. Attendance on Saturday also felt lighter than usual, which was noticeable when moving between rooms.
Fourth place goes to the Rotel and Monitor Audio room. This was simply a very well-executed setup with great visual presentation and solid, dependable sound. Nothing flashy or overdone — just good gear, well matched, and enjoyable to listen to. It was one of the more comfortable rooms to spend time in. This room clearly had the most hype and energy, great showing by Rotel and Monitor Audio.

Fifth place goes to SVS. As always, you could hear their room from hundreds of feet away thanks to their trademark bass output. SVS continues to do what they do best, delivering serious low-end impact that grabs attention instantly. Unfortunately, my photos of the SVS room came out far too dark to use, which is a shame because the setup deserved better documentation.

As always if you ever see me, feel free to say hi!

Overall, the Florida Audio Expo this year felt smaller and more meh, but there were still some genuinely standout rooms that made the trip worthwhile. A few exhibitors clearly put real effort into setup and system matching, and it showed immediately when you sat down to listen.
Unfortunately, I also noticed a surprising number of rooms with extremely poor setup — a real shame, especially when great gear ends up sounding outright bad because of placement or tuning issues. I won't name names, but if you were there, you know. Add in lighter attendance and some infrastructure challenges, and it wasn’t the strongest year overall.
That said, strong showings from brands like YG Acoustics, Focal, and Popori reminded me why events like this still matter, and with some refinement, this show absolutely deserves to keep moving forward.
