If you’ve been thinking about upgrading your home theater setup, there’s a new projector in town that might catch your attention. Dangbei just launched the MP1 Max—a 4K projector that blends triple light technology with built-in Google TV streaming. It’s available now on Amazon for $1,999, but there’s a $300 discount if you use the code DBMP1MAX before July 7th.

So what’s the deal with this projector?

The big story here is the hybrid lighting system. Instead of relying solely on LED or laser like most projectors, the MP1 Max combines three laser modules with LED. This setup helps boost brightness (up to 3,100 ISO Lumens), which means you don’t need total darkness to get a clear, vibrant image. Whether you’re watching a movie in the evening or catching a game on a sunny afternoon, it’s built to handle a variety of lighting conditions.

Color is also a major focus. The projector covers 110% of the BT.2020 color space—that’s a wide range, often used as a benchmark in premium displays. And with a Delta E rating of under 1 (a measurement used to track color accuracy), you’re likely getting a picture that’s true to the source material.

It supports 4K resolution and HDR10+, which helps bring out more detail in both shadows and highlights. And yes, it also does 3D—if you have compatible glasses and content to match.

If you’ve ever worried about eye fatigue with big-screen viewing, Dangbei says the MP1 Max filters out blue light in the 400–445 nm range. This should help reduce strain during longer viewing sessions, especially at night. And since it’s a laser-LED hybrid, it’s expected to have a longer lifespan than standard lamp-based models.

On the audio side, the MP1 Max has a pair of 12-watt speakers backed by a sizable 750cc bass chamber. The built-in sound system supports Dolby Audio and DTS Virtual:X, giving you a bit of virtual surround effect straight from the projector. It won’t replace a full surround setup, but for a plug-and-play experience, it’s not bad.

One of the biggest selling points for a lot of people, though, might be the software. The MP1 Max runs on Google TV, so no need to plug in a separate streaming stick. You’ll get access to over 10,000 apps, including Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, and more. And yes, Netflix is fully licensed here, which isn’t always the case with other Android-based projectors.

The built-in Google Assistant makes voice control easy, and smart recommendations can help you find something new to watch without endless scrolling.

Setup is also designed to be as painless as possible. The projector includes a built-in stand that can rotate 360 degrees and tilt up to 135 degrees, so you can aim it from almost anywhere. It also uses something called InstanPro AI, which handles all the image tweaks for you—autofocus, keystone correction, screen fitting, obstacle detection, and brightness adjustments happen automatically.

The remote control includes shortcut buttons for Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video, and it can wake the projector from sleep mode straight into your favorite app. There are also handy buttons for triggering autofocus and keystone correction without diving into settings menus.

Design-wise, it’s a pretty sleek device. The rounded, fabric-covered body is designed to blend into modern living spaces, and it’s also practical—the fabric helps with sound and resists dust and fingerprints. Dangbei even includes an eco-friendly travel case made from lightweight EPP (Expanded Polypropylene), so if you’re planning to move the projector around, that’s covered too.

All in all, the MP1 Max is aiming to offer a projector that’s just as smart and adaptable as a modern TV. It’s loaded with features, but how it performs day-to-day will come down to real-world use—things like fan noise, app responsiveness, and motion handling still need to be tested out.

If you’re curious to try it out, the $1,699 launch price with promo code is valid through July 7th.
