CANVAS HiFi is trying to change what people expect from a soundbar. The Danish audio company has introduced CANVAS L, a new high-end TV audio system that it describes as the world’s first true audiophile soundbar. That is a bold label, but the idea behind it is easy to understand: CANVAS L is designed for people who want serious sound without filling the room with separate speakers, stands, cables, and electronics.
Most soundbars are built around convenience first. They sit under a TV, connect with one cable, and make movies, shows, and games easier to hear. CANVAS L is taking a different approach. It still has the clean, single-box design people expect from a soundbar, but the company has built it more like a high-end speaker system that happens to live under a TV.
CANVAS L will have its world premiere on June 4 at High End Vienna and is expected to be available through authorized CANVAS HiFi retailers in Q4 2026. Pricing starts at €5,999, including the front panel, hybrid bracket, and universal TV bracket.

The main story here is not just that CANVAS L is another premium soundbar. It is what CANVAS has packed inside the cabinet.
The system uses custom-made drivers from Scan-Speak and SB Acoustics, with sound tuning handled by Danish audio engineer Benno Baun Meldgaard. Meldgaard has worked on high-end loudspeakers from brands including Gryphon, Raidho, and Gamut, and CANVAS says he tuned CANVAS L in real living-room environments rather than only in a lab.
Inside, CANVAS L includes custom 8-inch Scan-Speak woofers, passive 8-inch radiators based on the same woofer design, 4-inch Scan-Speak midrange drivers, and 29 mm SB Acoustics ring radiator tweeters. That is a more serious driver setup than you typically see in slim TV-focused audio products.

The cabinet is also part of the story. CANVAS uses a highly rigid Compact Density Fibreboard enclosure with what it calls BridgeBrace+ reinforcement. That matters because the enclosure has to do more than hold the drivers. It also needs to remain stable while supporting the TV mounting system.
Key specs include:
The amplifier layout is also unusually powerful for this category. CANVAS lists 2 x 300 watts for the woofers, 2 x 200 watts for the midrange drivers, and 2 x 50 watts for the tweeters, with less than 0.02% THD at full rated power.

One of the more interesting technologies in CANVAS L is BACCH 3D+, licensed from Princeton University. This system uses crosstalk cancellation to create a wider and more immersive stereo image from a single speaker position.
Basically, BACCH 3D+ is designed to help the sound extend beyond the physical width of the soundbar. It works by managing how left- and right-channel information reaches your ears, which can create a stronger sense of width, depth, and height from one cabinet.
That could matter just as much for music as it does for movies. Many soundbars can make explosions and effects sound bigger, but music playback can still feel narrow or artificial. CANVAS is positioning CANVAS L as a system that can handle TV, movies, games, and proper two-channel listening without needing separate speakers.

CANVAS L is clearly aimed at buyers who care about how their living room looks. The system is designed to sit directly under a TV and visually blend into the setup rather than looking like a separate bar added later.
It supports 65-, 75-, 77-, 83-, and 85-inch TVs, with optional custom sizes for 98- to 115-inch screens. It is compatible with TVs that support VESA mounting, and the included bracket system is meant to make the TV and audio system look like one unified piece.
There are also plenty of finish options. CANVAS L offers 13 custom finishes, including black and light gray textile fronts, eight Danish Kvadrat fabric colors, and wood slat options in light oak, mahogany, and walnut. The front panels are magnetic and interchangeable, so the look can be changed later.

CANVAS L can also be used without a TV. The company says it can work as a standalone hi-fi music system, whether wall-mounted, placed on a shelf, or used on the floor. That makes it a little different from most soundbars, which tend to feel pointless once the TV is removed from the equation.
CANVAS L also adds a few practical upgrades that should make it easier to use in different types of systems. New features include a coaxial digital input, Ethernet/LAN, 2-channel RCA input, Control4 support, and lighter, more versatile TV and hybrid brackets.
The RCA input is a useful addition for anyone who wants to connect analog sources, such as a turntable with a separate phono stage. On the digital side, HDMI eARC should make everyday TV use simple, with volume control handled through the TV remote. CANVAS also says eARC should help avoid lip-sync problems between picture and sound.

For streaming, CANVAS L covers most of the major options people expect in a modern premium audio system: AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, DLNA, and Roon Ready.
CANVAS L is not trying to be a mainstream living-room soundbar. At €5,999, it sits much closer to the world of high-end hi-fi systems, premium TV furniture, and custom-installed audio.

That price will narrow the audience, but the concept is interesting. CANVAS L is aimed at people who may like the idea of a serious stereo system but do not want two large speakers, a separate amplifier, a rack of gear, and visible cables around the room.
The big question is whether listeners who care about hi-fi performance will accept a single-box system under the TV as a real alternative to separate speakers. CANVAS is clearly betting that some will, especially in homes where design, space, and simplicity matter just as much as sound quality.
CANVAS L will make its public debut at High End Vienna on June 4, with retail availability expected in Q4 2026 through authorized CANVAS HiFi dealers.
