I’ve been using AirPods for years now—starting with the very first-gen clunky case model and working my way up to the Pro lineup. So when I say Apple’s wireless earbuds are some of the most reliable and surprisingly useful tech I own, I mean it. And right now, two of the best models—AirPods Pro 2 and the newly updated AirPods 4—are on sale for some of the lowest prices I’ve seen in months.
Whether you're upgrading from a dusty old pair or buying your first set, both deals are worth a serious look. Here's why.
Let’s start with the heavy hitter. Apple’s second-generation AirPods Pro are honestly some of the best noise-canceling earbuds you can buy, at any price.
What makes them so good? A few things.
First off, they use Apple’s latest H2 chip, which powers improved audio quality, more precise noise cancellation, and support for Adaptive Transparency—so you can hear the world around you without having to pull them out. They also have Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, which sounds gimmicky until you're watching a movie or listening to live concert recordings. It creates a subtle, immersive 3D effect that’s surprisingly addicting.
Then there’s the comfort. The AirPods Pro 2 come with four sizes of silicone ear tips, and they’re light enough to wear for hours at a time without ear fatigue. I wear them during flights, while working at cafés, and even when I’m trying to get through a loud gym session—and they always hold up.
The noise cancellation? Genuinely impressive. I’ve worn Bose and Sony models too, and Apple’s ANC is right there in the same league. For everyday situations—commutes, public places, droning fans or AC units—it blocks out enough to let your music or podcasts shine through.
The new USB-C version also comes with a MagSafe charging case that now includes a speaker and a U1 chip, making it easier to find with “Find My” if you misplace it. If you’re like me and routinely misplace tech under couch cushions, this alone is a game-changer.
Battery life is solid too: around 6 hours per charge, and 30 hours with the case. And even if they’re dead, five minutes in the case gives you about an hour of playback.
Normally $249, the Pro 2s are now just $169 on Amazon. That’s a massive $80 off. If you’ve been holding out for a serious price cut, this is it.
On the other end of the lineup is the AirPods 4, which are basically Apple’s refresh of the beloved “regular” AirPods. These are not the Pro version—there’s no ANC, no silicone tips—but don’t let that fool you. The upgrades here make them the best non-Pro AirPods yet.
The biggest change? These now use the same H2 chip that powers the Pro 2. That means faster pairing, smoother audio transitions between devices, improved battery efficiency, and Spatial Audio support—all in a smaller, lighter package.
They’ve also switched to USB-C charging, which finally brings them in line with most modern Apple gear. And the redesigned drivers and acoustic structure give them better sound than previous AirPods. Think punchier bass, cleaner mids, and clearer vocals—not audiophile-level sound, but a big improvement for casual listening.
Where these shine is comfort and simplicity. They rest gently in your ear without going deep, which a lot of people (myself included) find more comfortable for long periods. No fussing with tips or suction. Just pop them in and go.
Battery life is around 6 hours per charge, with about 20 hours total from the case. More than enough for a typical day out, a long meeting, or a few walks and calls.
And again, we’re talking $90 for a brand-new model. That’s the lowest I’ve seen for these so far.
If you’ve never used ANC earbuds or want a true all-in-one option for travel, commuting, or focusing while working, go for the AirPods Pro 2. They’re quieter, more immersive, and still light and comfortable enough to wear all day.
But if you prefer a more open-ear design, or just want something lightweight and reliable for daily use—whether that’s for calls, casual music, or podcasts—the AirPods 4 at $90 is a fantastic entry point. They’re also great for kids, teens, or anyone who doesn't need ANC but still wants a premium wireless experience.
I personally use both—Pros for travel, regular AirPods for everything else.
If someone asked me what wireless earbuds to buy this week—whether they’re deep in the Apple ecosystem or just looking for solid gear—I’d point them to these two. The AirPods Pro 2 at $169 is probably one of the best bang-for-your-buck deals in the premium wireless space right now. And the AirPods 4 for $90? It’s an easy recommendation for everyday users who want great audio in a simple, super comfortable form.
