If you’re building or upgrading a serious home theater system in 2026, JBL Synthesis wants to be on your radar. At this year’s ISE show in Barcelona, the company unveiled a major expansion to its immersive audio lineup, adding nine new loudspeakers and three new AV processing components.

This isn’t just a speaker drop or a few upgraded boxes. It’s a full-blown system refresh that covers everything from in-wall speakers for custom installations to on-wall and in-room options for trickier spaces. And it’s all built to work together as a unified setup, from source to sound.

Let’s start with the loudspeakers. JBL Synthesis introduced nine new models across in-wall, on-wall, and in-room categories. All of them are timbre-matched, which basically means they’re designed to sound consistent when used together in a full surround or immersive system.

There are four new in-wall speakers, aimed squarely at high-performance home cinemas:

  • SCL-2XL: The heavy hitter here, with four 8-inch woofers and a compression driver. It’s made for large rooms and setups where you can hide it behind an acoustically transparent screen.
  • SCL-4XL: A slightly smaller option with dual 8-inch woofers, still designed for powerful front or surround speaker use.
  • SCL-6XL: Uses four 6.5-inch woofers and a compression driver, and it’s built to balance big sound with installation flexibility.
  • SCL-7XL: Also a 6.5-inch design, but this one has an offset horn to help you aim the sound more precisely—especially useful for center or surround positions.

Not every space can handle in-wall speakers, so JBL Synthesis added some more flexible choices, too:

  • SCL-10XL: A large in-room or built-in speaker with dual 10-inch woofers, ideal for use behind a screen or inside custom cabinetry.
  • SCL-10: A scaled-down version with dual 6.5-inch drivers for medium or large rooms.
  • SCL-9XL: Designed for wall-mounting around big displays, this one features four 5.25-inch woofers and a compression driver.
  • SCL-9: A slim on-wall speaker with dual 5.25-inch woofers, good for surround or front use in rooms where space or design matters.

To round things out, there’s the SSW-5, a 12-inch powered subwoofer with 1,000 watts of output. It’s designed to match the rest of the system and provide the low-end punch that brings movies and music to life.

“With this new generation of JBL Synthesis loudspeakers and electronics, we’re delivering the most complete and flexible immersive audio ecosystem we’ve ever offered,” said Jim Garrett, Senior Director, Product Strategy and Planning, HARMAN Luxury Audio. “From architectural in-wall solutions to in-room loudspeakers and advanced processing platforms, every product is designed to work together as part of a cohesive system. This expansion gives integrators and designers the tools they need to create reference-level cinema experiences.”

Speakers are only one part of the system. JBL Synthesis also introduced three new AV processing components to act as the control center for immersive audio setups.

  • SDP-70: A 24-channel AV processor that supports all the current immersive formats, like Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, IMAX Enhanced, and AURO-3D. It’s also equipped with Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART), a room correction system that helps tune the audio to your space.
  • SDP-60: Think of this as the little sibling to the SDP-70. It’s a 16-channel processor but still supports Dirac Live ART and has balanced outputs and flexible channel assignments.
  • SDR-40: This is a receiver, meaning it combines processing with built-in amplification (nine channels of Class G power, to be exact). It’s a more compact option if you want fewer boxes without giving up capability.

All three options are built to integrate tightly with the new speaker lineup, offering predictable performance and control whether you’re setting up a media room or a full-blown theater.

One of the big takeaways from JBL Synthesis’ 2026 lineup is the shift toward system-level design. Everything, speakers, subwoofers, processors, and amps, is meant to work together. That might sound obvious, but it’s not always how home theater gear is designed.

This kind of integrated approach makes it easier for installers and homeowners to build systems that scale from a few speakers in a living room to full cinematic experiences with a dozen or more channels of audio, all while keeping sound consistent across the board.

At ISE 2026, visitors will have a chance to hear some of the new gear in action. JBL Synthesis will demo the SCL-6XL in a theater-style room and show off the SCL-9XL and SSW-5 as part of a setup built around a large flat-panel display. These demos will show how the gear performs in both traditional theater spaces and more flexible, real-world environments.

The entire lineup is expected to start shipping this summer, with regional pricing and availability still to come.
