We'd like to thank ProjectorScreen.com for their assistance with our projector evaluations and testing. Their yearly shoot-out, extensive selection and helpful attitude makes our life easier when we need to dig in a little more.

XGIMI has launched a new pair of portable projectors—the MoGo 4 and MoGo 4 Laser—and they’re designed to fit your lifestyle just as easily as they fit in your backpack. Compact enough to take anywhere but packed with features you’d normally expect from a home projector, the MoGo 4 Series is clearly aimed at anyone who wants to stream a movie, host a rooftop hangout, or play ambient visuals—no outlet required.

Revealed today at a media event in Paris, the MoGo 4 Series brings a few firsts to the table, including a built-in battery and a suite of magnetic filters that add color and mood lighting to your space. XGIMI’s goal? To make portable projection less of a gadget and more of a vibe.

Both models are small—roughly the size of a tall coffee tumbler—but surprisingly versatile. You can rotate them 360 degrees, project up to 120 inches, and set them up in seconds thanks to auto keystone correction.

Here’s what separates the two:

MoGo 4 — $499 at Amazon

A straightforward Full HD projector with enough brightness (450 ISO Lumens) to handle movie nights in dim rooms or outdoor twilight hours.

  • 1080p Full HD resolution
  • Dual 6W Harman/Kardon speakers for room-filling sound
  • Magnetic Sunset filter included (optional add-ons: Ripple, Dreamscape, Lunar)
  • Gesture controls for switching filters
  • Bluetooth speaker mode with synced light effects
  • Built-in battery (2.5 hours of video, up to 5 hours with PowerBase)
  • Lightweight design with detachable lanyard
  • Compact infrared remote for control on the fly

MoGo 4 Laser — $799 at Amazon

This one steps it up with a triple-laser setup, boosting brightness to 550 ISO Lumens and supporting a wider color range (110% of BT.2020), which helps make colors pop even more.

  • Triple-laser projection for sharper, more vivid images
  • 1000:1 contrast ratio for deeper blacks and brighter highlights
  • Includes all four magnetic light filters
  • Transparent base with a glowing power indicator
  • Brushed aluminum side rails for a cleaner look
  • Same battery life and remote as the regular MoGo 4

One of the most interesting features of the MoGo 4 Series is the magnetic filter system. These aren’t lens filters for changing image quality—they’re ambient light filters that wrap the projector in a mood-setting glow.

  • Sunset: Soft orange for golden-hour vibes
  • Ripple: Wave-like blue motion, calming and slow
  • Dreamscape: Multicolor lighting, constantly shifting
  • Lunar: Cool blue tones for late-night chill sessions

You can swap filters with a wave of your hand in front of the projector. It’s a small touch that adds personality without needing to dig through menus.

Both projectors come with Google TV, so you can stream Netflix, YouTube, and other apps right out of the box—no need for a separate dongle. That’s especially useful if you’re packing light. They support Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, HDMI (with ARC), and USB, so you’ve got plenty of ways to connect devices if you want to.

“We saw an opportunity to reinvent what a portable projector could be—not just for watching, but for setting a mood, creating a space, even transforming a selfie,” said Apollo Zhong, CEO of XGIMI. “The MoGo 4 Series isn’t just portable—it’s expressive. While others shrink projectors, we added more: filters, speakers, and design. It lives in your bag, but also in your vibe.”

XGIMI also introduced a couple of accessories that help round out the experience:

  • PowerBase Stand: A magnetic base that extends video playback time up to 5 hours thanks to its built-in 20,000mAh battery.
  • 70-Inch Outdoor Screen: Folds out in a minute, wrinkle-free, and made for quick setup during camping trips or backyard hangs.
