If you’ve already found your dream turntable, but you're still searching for a stylish, compact speaker system to go with it, Andover Audio might have just delivered the missing piece. The new Andover-One SB takes everything people liked about the original Andover-One all-in-one system—minus the built-in turntable—so you can plug in your own setup without compromise.
In short, it’s a solution for vinyl lovers who want great sound without going full separates or giving up their favorite deck.
The SB stands for "Speaker Base," and that’s exactly what this is: a compact, standalone speaker system that’s designed to sit underneath your turntable of choice. The top is a sheet of tempered glass, strong enough to hold your deck without vibration getting in the way of playback.
Andover’s patented IsoGroove technology is what makes that possible. It keeps unwanted vibrations from interfering with your records, so you don’t get hum or distortion, even though your turntable is sitting right on top of a speaker cabinet.
This model is clearly built with flexibility in mind. Some people are happy to buy a bundled all-in-one system. Others? They already own a Rega, Pro-Ject, Technics, or some other favorite turntable they don’t want to ditch. The Andover-One SB is for that second group.
“The original Andover-One stands alone as the industry’s top choice for a high-performance, all-in-one turntable,” said Bob Hazelwood, Andover’s Director of Engineering and Product Development.
“We have always prioritized our customer feedback, and while we celebrated the success of our unique design, we understood that there was opportunity to expand the series for customers to personalize their systems. A base-only model was a natural evolution, allowing us to maintain the Andover-One’s sophisticated style and impressive performance in a compact, luxury vinyl playback system.”
Even though it’s clearly designed with vinyl in mind, the SB can handle a variety of sources. There’s a built-in moving magnet phono stage, so you can plug in a turntable directly without needing an external preamp. But you also get a solid mix of digital and analog inputs, including optical, coaxial, analog, and USB.
Bluetooth is included too, with support for aptX, aptX HD, AAC, and even low-latency connections—so wireless streaming from your phone or tablet is on the table. If you want to rip your vinyl to a computer, there’s a USB output for that. And if streaming is part of your setup, Andover’s optional Songbird or Songbird HR streamers can plug right into the Aux 2 input.
For personal listening, there’s also a Class A headphone amplifier built-in. That means you can plug in a pair of good headphones and still get clean, high-quality audio without needing another box on your desk or shelf.
Controlling the SB is pretty straightforward. It has a front-panel graphic interface and a single dial to scroll through settings and inputs. There’s also an RF remote included, so you don’t have to point it directly at the unit for it to work—a small but welcome touch.
If you want to go bigger later on, the SB has you covered. There’s a subwoofer output, volume-controlled stereo line-out, and a high-pass filter option, which helps cleanly integrate an external sub without muddying the main speaker’s sound.
The Andover-One SB feels like it was made for people who’ve outgrown entry-level turntable speakers but aren’t quite ready to go full-on audiophile with racks of gear, cables, and separate components. If you’re someone who wants high-quality sound in a stylish, compact package—and you already own a turntable you like—this is a practical way to build a great vinyl setup without starting from scratch.
The Andover-One SB is available now for $1,999 at Amazon. In the box, you get the speaker base itself, a power adapter, an RCA cable with ground wire, and a quick start guide. Just add your turntable and whatever else you’re using, and you’re set.
