Sony has officially introduced the WF-C710N, its latest budget-friendly noise-canceling earbuds. These new earbuds replace the WF-C700N, keeping the same $119.99 price while bringing some noticeable upgrades. With improved noise cancellation, better battery life, and touch controls, Sony is making small but meaningful refinements to its entry-level wireless earbuds lineup.
If you’ve been eyeing a set of affordable noise-canceling earbuds, here’s what you need to know about the WF-C710N.
Sony has tweaked its noise-canceling tech for this model. The WF-C710N now features dual microphones in each earbud to detect and reduce outside noise more effectively. While they’re still in the budget category, Sony says this update improves the active noise cancellation (ANC) performance over the previous model.
If you prefer to stay aware of your surroundings, the ambient sound mode has also been enhanced. Users can adjust the level of background noise they hear through the Sony | Sound Connect app, which now offers 20 levels of customization. There’s also a Voice Passthrough mode that makes conversations easier without needing to remove the earbuds.
These features might not match Sony’s premium earbuds, but they should provide a noticeable difference for everyday use.
Battery life has been a big focus for Sony in this update. The WF-C710N now lasts 8.5 hours with ANC on (up from 7.5 hours on the previous model). When paired with the charging case, you get a total of 30 hours of battery life with ANC. Turn ANC off, and that number jumps to 40 hours.
Need a quick top-up? A five-minute charge now provides an hour of playback, which is a nice bump in convenience.
One of the biggest design changes is the switch from physical buttons to touch controls. Instead of clicking, you can now tap the earbuds to control playback, adjust volume, or answer calls. These controls can also be customized in the Sony | Sound Connect app, letting you tweak them to fit your preferences.
For some, this may be a welcome upgrade, while others might miss the precision of physical buttons. Either way, touch controls bring the WF-C710N in line with Sony’s higher-end earbuds.
Under the hood, the WF-C710N still runs on Bluetooth 5.3 and supports SBC and AAC codecs. However, aptX and LDAC—which provide higher-quality audio streaming—are still missing. If you’re looking for hi-res Bluetooth audio, you might need to look at Sony’s premium lineup instead.
Sony has also included Precise Voice Pickup Technology, which uses AI-based noise reduction to improve call quality. The earbuds adjust to reduce background noise, making your voice clearer during phone calls.
The WF-C710N sticks with Sony’s small and lightweight design, making them easy to carry around. But Sony has introduced a new “glass blue” color, featuring a semi-transparent look. Other color options include black, white, and pink.
The charging case has also been designed to be compact and pocket-friendly, making it easy to store on the go.
Sony has brought Multipoint Bluetooth to these earbuds, allowing them to connect to two devices at the same time. That means you can switch between, say, your laptop and phone without constantly reconnecting.
The earbuds also have an IPX4 water resistance rating, meaning they can handle splashes and sweat, making them a decent option for workouts or commuting.
Even with these upgrades, Sony has kept the price at $119.99, making the WF-C710N a direct replacement for the previous model without a price hike.
For those looking for budget-friendly noise-canceling earbuds, these could be a solid choice. They won’t compete with Sony’s high-end WF-1000XM5 earbuds, but the improved ANC, battery life, and touch controls make them a practical option for everyday use.
The WF-C710N is available for pre-order now through Sony’s website, Amazon, and other authorized retailers.
