London’s Cine International Film Festival (CIFF) is kicking off this May, and while the spotlight will be on indie films and fresh talent, there’s another key player helping to shape the experience—Monitor Audio. The British audio brand has signed on as the festival’s official audio sponsor, bringing its high-performance speaker systems into the mix to make sure every film sounds as good as it looks.
Running from May 7th to 10th, CIFF will take over the Karma Sanctum Hotel in Soho, turning it into a hub for premieres, panel talks, and screenings from both UK and international filmmakers. But this isn’t your average pop-up cinema setup. With Monitor Audio’s Cinergy THX Certified Ultra speakers installed across the venue—including bars and lounge areas—attendees are in for a listening experience that goes beyond what you’d expect at a film festival.
The sound system supporting CIFF includes Monitor Audio’s Cinergy 100, 200, 300, and Sub15 models. These are the kind of speakers you’d usually find in a high-end home theater, and they’re built to handle everything from subtle background details to full-blown action sequences. Here’s a quick breakdown of what each speaker brings to the table:
While these speakers are usually meant for home theaters, CIFF is giving them a public stage—turning the Karma Sanctum into a temporary showcase for how immersive audio can enhance a film festival.
"To be able to sponsor the Cine Film Festival, creative filmmakers and visionaries to deliver their vision, at every screening – at its sonic best – is something we’re very proud of," said Michael Johnson, Commercial Head, UK & Global Marketing Director, Monitor Audio Group.
"To deepen the emotional relationship and connection with the content on screen, through the power of our high-fidelity Cinergy speaker system and amplification is extremely gratifying."
The Cine International Film Festival is being launched in partnership with DREAMTOWN Entertainment, the Karma Sanctum Hotel, and Goldfinch—the production company behind several award-winning films. The festival is putting a big focus on independent filmmaking and rising voices, and its programming reflects that.
It all starts with the world premiere of Savage Flowers, a psychological thriller starring Roxanne McKee and Nick Moran. Other highlights include Borrowed Time, a biopic about John Lennon, the coming-of-age film Los Frikis, and London: The Modern Babylon, which will be followed by a live Q&A with director Julien Temple.

But it’s not just about the films themselves. CIFF is also hosting panel discussions on hot-button topics like AI in filmmaking, funding challenges, and distribution strategies. One of the featured sessions will be led by Girls on Film, the popular podcast duo known for their smart, entertaining takes on movies and the film industry.
CIFF is aiming to make a real impact beyond the four-day event. One way it’s doing that is through the new Goldfinch Academy Bursary—a fund set up to help emerging filmmakers get the resources they need to bring their ideas to life. The festival is also lending support to the Teenage Cancer Trust, using its platform to highlight causes that matter to the creative community.
By bringing together innovative sound technology and a passion for storytelling, CIFF is trying something different. It’s not just a film festival—it’s also a chance to reimagine what a screening experience can feel like, especially when the audio is given as much attention as the visuals.
Whether you’re attending to catch a world premiere, hear from industry insiders, or just soak up the atmosphere, don’t be surprised if you walk away talking about the sound. After all, when Monitor Audio’s in the room, you’re going to hear the difference.
