madVR Labs is back with a new lineup of Envy video processors, and there’s a lot for both home theater fans and gamers to pay attention to. The Envy Extreme MK3, Pro MK3, and Core MK2 now include full HDMI 2.1 with 48 Gbps bandwidth and support for high refresh rates and VRR. On top of that, a major software update is coming soon for all models—old and new.
Whether you’re running a high-end projector in a dedicated theater room or just want to clean up your image quality on a living room TV, the latest Envy processors are built to give you more control over your video setup.
The standout feature across all three models—Core MK2, Pro MK3, and Extreme MK3—is the move to full HDMI 2.1 input and output with 48 Gbps bandwidth. That unlocks a lot of possibilities: uncompressed 8K video, smooth 4K at 120Hz, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) up to 360Hz if you’re using Display Stream Compression (DSC). In plain terms, it’s designed to keep up with the latest video sources, whether you're watching movies or playing fast-paced games.
The Envy Core MK2 is the new starting point in the lineup and replaces the earlier Core MK1. It starts at $5,995 USD through the end of the year and goes up to $6,995 USD after that. You still get a lot of power out of the box: a better CPU, more RAM, and an upgraded NVIDIA 5060 GPU.
For those who want to take things further, there’s a Premium Package available for $1,795 USD. That adds support for full 8K upscaling and introduces a new feature called Dynamic Subtitle Overlay, which can reposition and adjust subtitles so they fit better on screen. You also get VRR support and an extended 4-year warranty.

The Core MK2 still includes many of the tools madVR is known for—like AI-powered upscaling, dynamic tone mapping, and non-linear stretch (NLS+) to reduce black bars without cutting content. And now it adds improved gaming performance with much lower latency.
The older Core MK1 isn’t going away—it’ll stick around at $4,995 USD, with the Premium add-on priced at $1,395 USD starting September 15.
The Pro MK3 takes what the Core MK2 offers and pushes it further with added features and a more premium build. It uses the same NVIDIA 5060 GPU but includes a longer warranty and better support for 5K and 8K upscaling, along with headroom for future software improvements. It’s priced at $10,995 USD, sitting right between the Core and Extreme models.
This option is for users who want more flexibility without jumping all the way to flagship pricing, especially if you’re planning a high-performance setup that might need more muscle over time.
At the top of the range is the Envy Extreme MK3, designed for serious enthusiasts and custom theater installations. It features the NVIDIA 5080 GPU, which opens the door to more complex AI-powered processing and future upgrades. Along with full 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 support, this model includes madVR’s unique MotionAI™ feature—AI motion interpolation without the distracting “soap opera” effect—and Geometry Correction for adjusting projector alignment in more complex installations.
The Extreme MK3 is priced at $15,995 USD and comes with a 5-year warranty. madVR says upgrade paths will be available for current Extreme MK1 and MK2 owners closer to launch in Fall 2025.

All three new Envy models are adding serious gaming chops. With VRR supported on both input and output, they’re designed to work with modern gaming systems like the PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and gaming PCs. The Envy now supports frame rates up to 360Hz (with DSC), making it ideal for fast-action titles where screen tearing and input lag are a concern.
A new low-latency gaming mode also comes standard, with faster response times than previous versions. And here’s good news for current Envy owners—this new gaming mode is coming to earlier models via a software update, although full VRR functionality may depend on when your unit was made and whether you have the Premium add-on.
“Our mission is to push the boundaries of video processing and deliver the ultimate picture quality for our customers, while ensuring it remains user-friendly and intuitive,” said Richard Litofsky, Co-Founder & CEO of madVR Labs.
“With the launch of the Envy Core MK2 and MK3 series, we’re excited to usher in the next generation of Envy. These products not only introduce industry-first features like full 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 input and output but also unlock advanced gaming capabilities, including VRR and dramatically reduced latency—that our customers have been asking for. Whether for dedicated theaters or multi-purpose rooms, Envy continues to redefine what’s possible in high-end video processing.”
Alongside the hardware refresh, madVR is preparing a major software update for Fall 2025. The highlight is Dynamic Subtitle Overlay, which intelligently moves and adjusts subtitles to better fit the image—especially useful with ultra-wide content or projectors where text can get lost in black bars.
The update will also bring multi-language menu support (with initial options including Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, and Spanish) and expand on the company’s DeinterlaceAI™ feature, which is built to clean up interlaced sources like broadcast TV and older Blu-rays.
Best of all, this software update will apply to both new and older Envy models.
madVR will be showing off the Core MK2 at CEDIA Expo 2025, including a live demo using a PlayStation 5 Pro to highlight its new low-latency gaming capabilities. You’ll also be able to see the Extreme MK3 at various partner booths throughout the event. Shipping for all models is expected to begin in Fall 2025.
