Not every speaker comes with synchronized lighting, DJ controls, and wheels, but Samsung’s new Sound Towers do. Announced at IFA 2025, the ST50F and ST40F are the latest additions to the company’s portable speaker lineup, blending high-powered sound with visual flair and practical portability for all kinds of social setups.

These aren’t your average Bluetooth speakers. Between the strong audio output, built-in light shows, and smart portability features, the new Sound Towers are all about making it easier to throw a fun event without juggling separate gear or extension cords.

Let’s start with the audio side. The ST50F packs up to 240 watts of sound, while the smaller ST40F delivers 160 watts. Both use a combination of dual woofers and dome tweeters to cover everything from low bass to crisp highs.

Samsung’s also using something called Waveguide technology, which basically spreads the sound out more evenly—so the people off to the side aren’t stuck hearing a muffled version of the music. This is especially handy outdoors, where sound tends to drift away or get lost in the open air.

Want to fine-tune the vibe? There are bass modes (Deep, Punchy, or Gentle) depending on how much thump you want, and sound presets like Standard, Wide, Stadium, and Outdoor to help match the speaker output to your space—whether it’s a backyard, basement, or open park.

And if one speaker isn’t enough, you can link multiple Sound Towers together wirelessly using something called Auracast Group Play. You can also pair two of them in stereo mode for true left-right sound separation.

The Sound Towers don’t just play music—they come with LED lighting built into five different areas of the speaker. Lights wrap around the woofers and tweeters, line the sides, light up the base, and even glow around the handle, which doubles as a phone or tablet stand.

The lights aren’t just for show—they actually react to the music in real time. So if you’ve got a beat-heavy playlist going, the lights will pulse and shift with the rhythm. You can control it all through the Samsung Sound Tower app, which lets you choose between lighting patterns like “Wave,” “Spark,” or “Flare,” and mood presets like “Festival” or “Chill.”

No need to set up extra lighting equipment—this speaker does the work for you.

Battery life is always a concern with portable speakers, but Samsung’s models are built to go the distance. The ST50F promises up to 18 hours of playtime, while the ST40F offers up to 12 hours. And if that’s not enough, both models use replaceable batteries, which is rare in this category. So if you keep a spare charged, the party doesn’t have to stop.

They also support quick charging, which comes in handy if you’re tight on time between events.

These speakers are not exactly pocket-sized—but Samsung has thought through how to move them around. The ST50F includes wheels and a telescopic handle, so you can roll it like luggage. The ST40F is a bit smaller and lighter, with a built-in handle and bottom grip to carry it more easily.

And yes, both are water-resistant (IPX4), so light rain or drink spills shouldn’t ruin your night. That protection even extends to the charging ports and control buttons.

There are a few bonus features baked in too. Both models have a DJ Booth mode and Karaoke mode, so you can take the mic and hype up the crowd (or embarrass yourself—your call). There’s even a guitar input, which is great for anyone who wants to plug in and play live.
