Focal’s latest speaker system, the Diva Mezza Utopia, is taking a different route through the high-end audio landscape. Instead of asking you to piece together a system with amps, DACs, and streamers, this wireless, all-in-one speaker setup is designed to do it all — no cables, no clutter, and no separate boxes required.
Slated for release in July at a price of $69,000 USD (or $97,249 CAD), the Diva Mezza Utopia will be available exclusively through the “Focal Powered by Naim” retail network.
If you're familiar with Focal’s Utopia line, you know it’s typically geared toward the kind of audiophile setup that involves racks of gear and lots of fine-tuning. The Mezza Utopia flips that script. It’s wireless, fully active, and comes ready to stream music out of the box. Each speaker is self-powered with 500 watts of amplification and designed to handle large rooms, up to 100 square meters.
And instead of relying solely on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to sync the two speakers, Focal uses Ultra Wideband (UWB) wireless transmission. That’s a fancy way of saying it sends uncompressed 24-bit/96kHz audio between the left and right channels, which keeps timing and clarity tight — something typically reserved for wired setups. If you want to go even higher in resolution, there’s also the option to run a direct wired connection at up to 192kHz.
The Mezza Utopia features four 8-inch woofers, each built using Focal’s proprietary “W” cone material. These drivers are arranged in a push-push layout, which helps cancel out unwanted vibrations and gives you deeper, more controlled bass. A Beryllium tweeter with an M-shaped dome handles the highs, while a separate “W” cone driver takes care of the mids.
Inside, the power comes from a new electronics package developed with Naim Audio. It includes a dual-stage power supply and a heat sink built into the rear panel to keep things cool during long listening sessions. It’s designed to deliver consistent power and dynamics across the frequency spectrum — basically, it should sound clean and punchy without breaking a sweat.
Another feature worth noting is Focal’s room-tuning system, called ADAPT. It uses internal sensors and algorithms to measure your space and adjust the speaker’s output accordingly. You can control and fine-tune it all through the Focal & Naim app.
Focal has also leaned into convenience with the Diva Mezza Utopia. You’ll find support for pretty much every modern streaming platform, including Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and UPnP. You can stream directly from services like Spotify Connect, TIDAL, and Qobuz, and the system even plays nicely with smart home platforms like Control4, Crestron, and Savant.
You can manage playback with the app, a physical remote, or even your voice, thanks to compatibility with Google Assistant and Siri.
Visually, the Mezza Utopia stays true to Focal’s Utopia design language. The cabinet is made from a dense polymer material shaped using a low-pressure molding process, which allows for both acoustic optimization and some striking curves. The speaker sits on a two-level beveled base and features floating felt side panels in a soft ivory color — a subtle but stylish contrast to the bold front grille, which blends red and black in Focal’s signature “watch dial” motif.
A brushed aluminum ring around the tweeter grille completes the look, tying it back to the rest of the Utopia family.
At nearly $70,000, this obviously isn’t a casual purchase. But the pitch here isn’t just about luxury materials or tech specs — it’s about simplifying the listening experience without sacrificing audio performance. If you want reference-grade sound but don’t want to build and maintain an entire stack of gear, the Mezza Utopia offers a one-and-done setup that combines speaker, amp, DAC, and streamer in a single package.
The Diva Mezza Utopia will hit select dealers in July 2025, and only through Focal’s official Powered by Naim network.
