If you're someone who loves digging a little deeper into how your favorite songs are made, Focal Naim America has something new to check out. They just released two fresh playlists — “Mixed on Focal #6” and “Hip Hop / Rap Vol. 2” — giving listeners a way to hear music mixed on the same studio monitors used by top engineers.

The “Mixed on Focal #6” playlist brings together 50 tracks, all mixed using a range of Focal’s professional studio speakers. It’s a pretty impressive lineup of engineers too — names like Jeremy Mang, Luca Pretolesi, Robert Guzman, Nick “Squids” Squillante, Athena Wilkinson, Will Yip, Bobby Campbell, Leslie Brathwaite, and more contributed to the project.

Different models of Focal monitors were used, including the Trio11, Trio6, Twin6, Solo6, Shape Twin, Shape 40, and Alpha Twin Evo, showing the variety of setups behind the music.

On the flip side, “Hip Hop / Rap Vol. 2” is a more focused playlist built around one genre. It highlights work from engineers Leslie Brathwaite and Bobby Campbell, both known for their contributions to hip hop and rap.

Brathwaite, whose credits include Beyoncé, Megan Thee Stallion, and Migos, mixed tracks like Sweet Honey Buckin from Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album using Focal’s Twin6 and Sub12 monitors. Bobby Campbell, who’s worked with Logic, Juicy J, and Blu, used the Trio11 monitors to mix tracks like Not a Game (featuring Lucy Rose) from Logic’s Aquarius III album.

Both playlists are available now on major streaming services — Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, and Qobuz. They’re also on Spotify, and listeners there will eventually get access to a higher-quality CD streaming tier once Spotify launches it.

The idea behind these playlists is pretty simple: Focal Naim America wants to give people a chance to hear tracks as they were heard in the studio, through the same gear used during mixing. It’s a way to experience songs closer to how the artists and engineers intended, especially if you’re listening on Focal speakers or headphones.

“Listeners want to hear music the way the artist meant their music to sound,” said Romain Vet, VP of Sales and Marketing at Focal Naim America, “and now Focal offers them a way to do that by listening to ‘Mixed on Focal’ high-resolution streaming playlists on Focal speakers or headphones—the same quality speakers the songs were mixed on. Mixed on Focal playlists create a perfect way to show off the incredible sound of Focal.”

These new playlists are part of the larger “Mixed on Focal” series that’s been building up over time. Focal plans to keep adding more playlists in the future, giving music fans regular updates and new ways to hear behind-the-scenes production work.

For those who want an even more hands-on experience, you can book a listening session at a Focal Powered by Naim store. Or, if you're curious to dive deeper into the series, the Focal Artists Experience website has more info and links to even more music mixed on Focal gear.
