Optoma has introduced its latest home cinema projector, the HCPro-4400, a 4K UHD dual-laser model designed for both home theater enthusiasts and professional installers. With 5,000 lumens of brightness, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ support, this projector aims to bring big-screen cinematic visuals into living rooms and dedicated home theaters.

It’s available now for $5,999 at Projector Screen and offers a mix of high-end image quality, flexible setup options, and gaming-friendly features. Here’s a closer look at what it brings to the table.

If you’re after bright, vibrant visuals, the HCPro-4400 is built for the job. With a dual-laser light source pumping out 5,000 lumens, it’s designed to work well in both dark and well-lit spaces. So if you're watching a movie in a dimmed home theater or catching a game with the lights on, this projector is built to handle it.

It also boasts a 3,200,000:1 contrast ratio, which helps keep dark scenes detailed while making bright areas pop. And for color accuracy, it covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and 100% of Rec. 709, meaning colors should look natural and well-balanced.

On the HDR front, Optoma has packed in Dolby Vision and HDR10+, two of the most advanced formats available today. Dolby Vision adjusts brightness and contrast frame by frame, while HDR10+ fine-tunes dynamic range for greater detail in highlights and shadows.

One extra perk for movie lovers: FILMMAKER MODE is coming in Q3 2025 via an update. This setting disables motion smoothing and artificial enhancements, so films play as the director intended.

One of the HCPro-4400’s biggest advantages is how easy it is to set up. If you’re mounting it on a ceiling or placing it on a shelf, you’ve got plenty of adjustment options:

  • 1.6x zoom to fine-tune image size without moving the projector
  • Vertical and horizontal lens shift for easier alignment
  • Keystone correction to fix distortion if the projector isn’t perfectly centered

With a throw ratio of 1.2:1 to 1.92:1, this projector can fill a 300-inch screen at distances up to 32 feet. So, whether you're in a small media room or a spacious home theater, you’ll have some placement flexibility.

Another bonus? Unlike traditional projectors that require lamp replacements, the dual-laser light engine lasts up to 30,000 hours, which translates to years of use with minimal maintenance.

If you’re planning to game on this projector, HDMI 2.1 support is a nice touch. The Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) drops input lag to 8.4ms at 1080p 240Hz, making it a solid choice for competitive gaming.

Here’s a quick rundown of the connectivity options:

  • 2x HDMI 2.1 (for gaming and 4K video sources)
  • 1x HDMI 2.0 with eARC (for Dolby Atmos audio passthrough)
  • USB-A ports (for media playback or powering streaming sticks)
  • RJ45 LAN port (for wired network control)
  • S/PDIF audio output (for connecting external audio gear)

One downside? There’s no built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, so you’ll need a streaming stick (like a Fire TV or Roku) plugged into one of the HDMI ports if you want to stream Netflix, Disney+, or other apps.

The HCPro-4400 has two built-in 5-watt speakers, but let’s be real—most people will want external speakers or a soundbar for a proper home theater experience.

For high-quality audio, the projector supports Dolby Atmos passthrough via eARC, meaning it can send high-fidelity surround sound to an AV receiver or soundbar without compression.

It’s also WiSA SoundSend Certified, which means it can connect wirelessly to WiSA-compatible surround sound speakers—no speaker cables required.
