beyerdynamic just announced its newest pair of wireless on-ear headphones—the AVENTHO 100—and they’re bringing a touch of the 1970s into 2025. The design looks like it was pulled straight from a vintage audio catalog, but under the hood, there’s plenty of modern tech. These headphones are the follow-up to the original AVENTHO wireless model from 2017, and this new version focuses on portability, noise cancelling, and long battery life. They're launching in Canada later this month for $299.99 CAD through Amazon.ca and other retailers.
“AVENTHO 100 reflects our continued commitment to craftsmanship, comfort, and cutting-edge sound,” said Andreas Rapp, CEO of beyerdynamic. “We set out to create a headphone that nods to classic design while delivering the performance and features today’s listeners expect - style, sound quality, and everyday versatility.”
If you’re into that classic hi-fi aesthetic, the AVENTHO 100 might catch your eye. They come in three color options—black, cream, and brown—and the styling leans hard into the retro theme. But while they may look old-school, the feature set is anything but.
This second-generation model folds up for easy travel and storage, which is a noticeable update from the original. The package also includes a USB-C charging cable, a soft carry pouch, and even a 3.5mm AUX cable if you want to go wired.
Sound-wise, beyerdynamic is using a 45mm driver that was developed in Germany, and it’s tuned to deliver a clean, balanced listening experience. That means you should expect clear vocals, solid bass, and enough detail in the treble without it sounding overly sharp or boosted.
The AVENTHO 100 also includes Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), which can help cut out background distractions whether you’re commuting, working in a café, or just trying to focus. You can tweak the noise-cancelling settings through the beyerdynamic app, which also handles firmware updates and other personalization tools.
Call quality is another focus here. The headphones use Qualcomm’s cVc tech to clean up voice calls, helping to reduce background noise when you’re talking.
One of the big selling points is battery life. You get up to 60 hours of playback without ANC, and even with ANC turned on, you’re still looking at around 40 hours. Need a quick top-up? A 15-minute charge gives you about 15 hours of listening time—more than enough to get through a full day.
The AVENTHO 100 uses Bluetooth 5.4 and supports multipoint connectivity, so you can pair it with two devices at the same time, like a phone and a laptop. There’s also Google Fast Pair for Android users, which makes the setup process almost instant. And if you don’t want to mess with your phone every time, the on-ear controls let you manage calls and music playback directly.
If you like to fine-tune your gear, the beyerdynamic app adds a few useful extras. You can adjust the ANC strength, check for updates, and access some personalization features. It’s not overloaded with features, but it covers the basics well enough for most users.
The AVENTHO 100 seems like a good match for anyone who wants headphones that look stylish without being flashy, and that can handle a bit of everything—music, calls, travel, and work. On-ear headphones offer a bit more comfort and portability than over-ear models, while still feeling more substantial than earbuds.
The AVENTHO 100 will be available in Canada later this month for $299.99 CAD. You’ll be able to find them on Amazon.ca and through other Canadian retail partners. There’s no official word yet on whether they’ll roll out to other markets.
