Aurzen has added a new option to the portable projector scene with the BOOM Air — a compact, all-in-one device that combines video, audio, and streaming features in one package. Announced last week, it’s now available on Aurzen’s website and Amazon for $299.99, with launch discount knocking $60 off the price.
At first glance, the BOOM Air doesn’t look like your average projector. It’s shaped a bit like a searchlight and sits on a built-in gimbal that tilts 110 degrees. That means you can point the image at a wall, ceiling, or pretty much any flat surface without propping it up on books or carrying a separate tripod.
It’s not tiny — about the size of a small desk lamp (21.7 x 14.3 x 31.5 cm) and weighing around 1.2 kg — but it’s still light enough to move from room to room or pack in a bag for travel.
One thing that sets the BOOM Air apart from some other portable models is its built-in sound. It has a 10-watt speaker tuned with Dolby Audio, so you can get decent volume and clarity without adding external speakers. If you do want more punch or private listening, two-way Bluetooth lets you pair it with headphones or a separate speaker.
The BOOM Air projects at native 1080p resolution, with HDR10 support for compatible content. Brightness is rated at 300 ANSI lumens — fine for dark or dimly lit rooms, but not meant for bright daylight. Depending on how far back you place it, the image size can range from 40 inches up to 250 inches diagonally.
Getting the picture aligned and focused is handled automatically. The projector uses a Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor for real-time autofocus and automatic keystone correction, both vertically and horizontally. So even if it’s set off to the side or tilted, it can adjust the image without you having to fiddle with menus.
Since Google TV is built in, you don’t need a streaming stick or box. You can install apps from the Google Play Store — including Netflix, YouTube, and Disney+ — and use Google Assistant for voice searches. The BOOM Air connects via dual-band Wi-Fi, and there’s also an HDMI port for plugging in other devices. Power comes through a standard DC input or a USB-C port.
A handy feature for outdoor use or travel is its ability to run from a 65-watt USB-C power bank. That means you can set it up in the backyard, take it camping, or use it in places without a convenient outlet.
With its brightness level, the BOOM Air is most at home in controlled-lighting situations — like an evening movie indoors or a backyard setup after dark. The gimbal mount, built-in sound, and onboard streaming make it easy to carry around and set up quickly without hauling extra gear.
Technical Specifications:
The Aurzen BOOM Air isn’t trying to replace a high-end home theater projector, but for anyone who wants an easy, portable way to watch movies, stream shows, or make presentations without extra cables and accessories, it offers a straightforward all-in-one setup.
The BOOM Air is available now in an off-white and green finish for $299.99 at Amazon, but you can use a $60 coupon to bring the price down to $239.99.
