Fosi Audio, the Hong Kong–based brand best known for affordable amps, DACs, and speakers, is stepping into new territory: vinyl. The company’s first-ever turntable, the Luna3, was launched worldwide on Kickstarter recently and It’ll retail for $349.99, but early backers can get up to 25% off during the campaign.

For years, Fosi has focused on compact, budget-friendly digital gear—think desktop amplifiers and headphone DACs—but the Luna3 signals a move into analog audio. The direct-to-consumer approach Fosi has built its business on is still in play here, which helps keep prices in check, especially in markets where import tariffs can bump up costs.

The Luna3 follows a “less is more” philosophy. You won’t find Bluetooth streaming, built-in speakers, or an onboard phono stage here. Instead, it outputs a clean, unaltered analog signal, meaning you’ll need an external phono preamp before running it into an amp. The upside? You get to choose your own preamp and avoid being tied to whatever’s built into the turntable.

The look is minimalist: a matte-black integrated plinth, a clear 300mm acrylic platter, and an 8.6-inch aluminum tonearm with a removable headshell. An orange platter mat adds a small pop of color. The cartridge is an Audio-Technica VM95E, a well-regarded choice at this price point, and the tonearm includes manual anti-skating adjustment to keep playback accurate.

Inside, a sensor-controlled copper-core motor keeps things steady, with speed variation rated at just ±0.11%. Switching between 33⅓ and 45 RPM is electronic, and an auto-stop feature keeps records from spinning endlessly if you walk away mid-play. The 3.5kg belt-drive design helps reduce vibration transfer from the motor to the platter.

There’s no shortage of competition in the entry-level turntable market—names like Rega, Pro-Ject, and Audio-Technica all have strong offerings in this price bracket. The Luna3 isn’t trying to undercut them on cost, but instead focuses on simplicity, clean design, and upgrade potential.

Launching through Kickstarter is as much a business move as it is a marketing one. It lets Fosi test demand before going into full production and gives early adopters a chance to lock in a lower price.

Out of the box, the Luna3 is ready to play, but it’s also designed with easy upgrades in mind. The cartridge and headshell can be swapped out without hassle, letting owners fine-tune their setup over time.

Fosi is also offering system bundles for those starting from scratch. You can pair the Luna3 with the company’s Box X5 phono preamp, a ZA3 Balanced Stereo Amp, and SP601 speakers to create a complete vinyl playback system. There’s even an option to customize the look—buyers can submit their own designs to be printed as sticker skins, though the stock minimalist aesthetic is already pretty versatile.

Pre-orders for the Luna3 are open now, exclusively through Kickstarter. Early Bird pricing starts around $260 USD (or £199 in the UK). Regular retail will be $349.99, with shipping expected to begin in October.

The Luna3 is a clear and deliberate first step for Fosi Audio into the vinyl space. It focuses on the essentials—solid build, stable playback, and system flexibility—rather than chasing features that might complicate the listening experience.

For existing Fosi owners, it’s a natural addition to their setup. For newcomers, it could be a straightforward entry into analog listening—just be ready to pick up a phono preamp and the rest of your system components to get it spinning.
