Let’s be real: shopping for headphones these days is a bit like swiping through dating apps—endless choices, bold claims, and most of them just aren’t quite the right fit. I’ve tested my share of headphones, from sketchy budget picks to eye-watering flagships, and somewhere along the way I realized all I wanted was something that just works. I don’t need drama or over-the-top features, just headphones I can trust, day in and day out. Enter the Edifier ES850NB.
Honestly, these headphones surprised me in the best way. They’re not trying to be the next “life-changing” gadget you see on every YouTube thumbnail, but somehow, they keep ending up on my head. Whether I’m working, traveling, or zoning out with music on the porch, these are the headphones I actually reach for. Think of them as the friend who never flakes on plans, is always on time, and quietly makes every hangout better. Middle of the road? Sure. But rock solid? Absolutely—and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
Who might want to look elsewhere?
Extreme bass junkies, folks who absolutely need a 3.5mm aux port, or anyone wearing headphones outside in sweltering summer heat.

First off, the ES850NB are just comfortable. Big earcups, soft padding, and a light frame mean I can wear them for hours without ear or head fatigue. The foldable design and travel case are a real bonus for anyone on the go.
Button controls are obvious and in the right places—no hand contortion required. The “touch-to-chat” feature is clever: hold your hand over the right earcup, and your music pauses so you can hear what’s going on around you. It’s not instant, but it works every time.

Edifier’s app is refreshingly straightforward. It connects reliably and lets you customize your EQ and ANC settings. I especially like that you can pick which modes the ANC button cycles through—handy if you want to skip “Off” altogether.
If I had to sum up the sound in one word, it would be: balanced. The mids and vocals are clear and a touch forward, making podcasts and pop vocals sound fantastic. Treble is present and never harsh, and the bass is tight, punchy, and never muddy. With a little custom EQ, I was able to get extra brightness and bass without ruining the overall balance. The default “Heavy Bass” preset is a little too much, but the parametric EQ gives you real control.
Even with ANC off, these headphones do a great job passively blocking noise. Turn ANC on high, and low frequencies disappear, while voices become background noise. It’s not quite Bose or Sony, but more than enough for work, travel, or home. Calls are crisp and clear, with AI-powered noise reduction handling office chatter or home chaos with ease.
This is where the ES850NB really shines. After five hours of use (ANC on high, music and calls at moderate volume), I was still at 92%. With regular use, a single charge easily lasts a full work week.

The Edifier ES850NB are, in a word, dependable. They aren’t flashy, but they absolutely nail the basics. They’re comfortable, sound great, last forever on a charge, and have ANC that’s more than enough for real life. If you want reliable headphones for music, work, and travel—and don’t want to drop a fortune—these are the ones I’d recommend first. Buy it on Amazon!

Bottom line:
If you just want a solid, comfortable, all-around great set of wireless headphones with ANC—without emptying your wallet—the Edifier ES850NB are the ones to beat. They’re now my daily driver, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
