Nothing’s CMF sub-brand is back with some new gadgets for 2025 — and this time, it’s not just a phone. Alongside the new CMF Phone 2 Pro, the brand is launching a fresh lineup of wireless earbuds. After the CMF Phone 1 made a splash last year by balancing style and affordability, the new generation sticks to that same idea but brings a few noticeable upgrades.

Starting under $300, the CMF Phone 2 Pro and the new Buds lineup are looking to shake things up in the budget tech world.

CMF Phone 2 Pro

At first glance, the CMF Phone 2 Pro feels like a natural evolution of the original. It’s slimmer and lighter, coming in at 7.8mm thick and 185 grams — and it’s got some new finish options to make it stand out. You can pick from a sandstone white, metallic orange, or glass-like black and green, and the design even features aluminum camera surrounds and stainless steel screws for a slightly more polished look.

The display gets a serious boost too. The CMF Phone 2 Pro features a 6.77-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a super bright 3,000 nits peak brightness. Outdoor brightness is rated at 1,300 nits, so checking your phone in direct sunlight shouldn’t be a struggle. Plus, it uses 2,160Hz PWM dimming, which could help reduce eye strain during longer sessions.

Under the hood, the Phone 2 Pro runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 Pro processor with 8GB of RAM. Storage comes in two options — 128GB or 256GB — and if that’s not enough, you can add a microSD card for up to 2TB of extra space. CMF says the new processor is about 10% faster than the last one and improves graphics by around 5%, but real-world performance will likely feel similar to the original.

Battery life should be solid too. There’s still a 5,000mAh battery, but CMF claims it lasts about an hour longer than before. They’re quoting up to 47 hours of voice calls, 22 hours of YouTube streaming, or around 10 hours of gaming. Charging remains at 33W wired, and you can expect around a 62% recharge in 30 minutes.

Security is handled by an in-display fingerprint sensor, and the phone’s durability gets a slight bump with an IP54 dust and water resistance rating — good enough for splashes, but not quite on par with the fully waterproof devices out there.

Photography has been a big focus too. On the back, the CMF Phone 2 Pro packs a 50MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom (and up to 20x digital zoom), and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Selfies are covered by a 16MP front camera — same as last time, but now boosted with new software tweaks like a "TrueLens Engine" and fresh photo presets.

For video, the rear cameras support 4K recording at 30fps. Plus, the phone’s Universal Cover accessory system is back, letting you attach extras like a fisheye lens, macro lens, lanyard, or even a kickstand.

Software-wise, the CMF Phone 2 Pro ships with Nothing OS 3.2, based on Android 15. You’ll get three years of Android updates and six years of security patches, which should be plenty for most users considering the phone’s price range.

Pre-orders for the CMF Phone 2 Pro started on April 28, and the phone officially goes on sale May 6. Pricing starts at £219 (around $291) for the 8GB/128GB version. In the U.S., only the 8GB/256GB model will be available through Nothing’s Beta Program for $279.

CMF Buds

Alongside the new phone, CMF also introduced three new sets of earbuds: the Buds 2a, Buds 2, and Buds 2 Plus — each designed to hit different price points.

CMF Buds 2a in three different colors: dark grey, light grey, and orange.

Starting with the basics, the CMF Buds 2a are the most affordable. They come with a 12.4mm bio-fiber driver, offer 42dB of active noise cancellation (ANC), and carry an IP54 water and dust resistance rating. Battery life is rated for 8 hours of playback on a single charge, stretching to 35.5 hours with the case. They’re available in dark grey, light grey, and orange, and are priced at just $49 on Amazon (£29).

Next up are the CMF Buds 2. These step things up with an 11mm PMI driver, stronger 48dB hybrid ANC, and audio tuning by Dirac, along with spatial audio features for more immersive sound. They’re IP55 rated and can deliver up to 13.5 hours of playback per charge — or 55 hours when you include the case. The Buds 2 come in dark grey, light green, and orange, and will cost $59 on Amazon (£39).

CMF Buds 2 Plus in blue and light grey colors.

If you want something a little fancier, the CMF Buds 2 Plus might be the way to go. They use a dual-driver setup (a 12mm LCP driver plus a 6mm coaxial driver) and add support for Hi-Res Audio via LDAC. There’s also more powerful adaptive ANC up to 50dB and personalized sound options through a "hearing compensation" feature. Battery life ticks up again to 14 hours per charge and 61.5 hours with the case. The Buds 2 Plus come in blue and light grey, and will sell for $79 on Amazon (£49).

All three sets of earbuds work with the Nothing X app for custom EQ tuning and support fast pairing with Nothing and CMF devices.

Practical Tech That Sticks to the Basics

Rather than going for flashy gimmicks or headline-grabbing specs, CMF’s newest launches seem laser-focused on getting the basics right — at a price that doesn’t sting. The CMF Phone 2 Pro offers a handful of smart upgrades without trying to act like a flagship, and the new Buds lineup gives buyers affordable choices that still cover the features most people actually care about.

Based on early details, CMF seems to be sticking to a simple formula: keep things practical, keep them affordable, and make them a little more polished than you might expect for the price.

The CMF Phone 2 Pro and all three new earbuds are available for pre-order now, with full availability kicking off on May 6 through Nothing’s website and select retailers.
